Everyone who celebrates this tradition loves it with all their heart,
Writing down a list of joy like a pair of slides from Kmart.
Dreaming of Santa’s reindeers be it Rudolph or Dasher,
Spending time with family, we shall all joyfully gather.
Even though it a couple days, to children it seems like an eternity,
Impatiently begging ‘is it here yet’ is simply plain to see.
Finally, it’s Christmas eve, and you’re looking at the Christmas tree,
Imagining all those presents ready to be opened, comes a smile of glee.
You get a plate of carrots and a cup of milk ready for bed,
You lay there trying to sleep, full of eagerness for the day ahead.
Mum wakes you in the morning with a cup of hot cocoa in her hand,
You skip out wanting to go shake them all, but you listen to Dad’s command.
Yes, the time you’ve waited for, you get handed and small box,
You’re are so full of excitement that it may blow of your Christmas socks.
Wrapping paper scattered across the floor, the last gift has been received,
Year after year it’s said, that it was the new best Christmas ever, is what you believed.
It has come to and end, dreading the moment of despair,
Time to go to Office Works to grab everything, we better prepare.
For a brilliant new school year to take action, new teachers and all,
If you’ll excuse me, I need to measure my new height on the 2024 wall.
